Due to working overtime for more than a month before the New Year, my original plans were completely disrupted. These plans included updating my public account and some study plans. This was also the most serious period of overtime since I graduated. During this time, there were no weekends and no regular working hours. Occasionally, working overnight was normal. When I returned home, I just wanted to tidy up and sleep early. In short, I hope I won't have this experience again in the future.
The reason for working overtime is definitely to meet project deadlines. Here are a few points summarizing the reasons for working overtime and the problems encountered during the development process:
- Insufficient project evaluation, with a certain degree of blindness.
- Two team members left during the development process, one from the front-end and one from the back-end.
- Insufficient emphasis on the project in the early stages.
- Team members lack sufficient work experience.
- The importance of time management.
- Excessive overtime affects work efficiency.
Although the efforts of these many days did not ultimately save the project, this high-intensity development work is still very helpful for accumulating development experience. I believe that all team members can learn from this failed experience and realize the importance of data structures and algorithms in the development process. Regardless of how programming languages change, these fundamental things like data structures and algorithms remain constant. In future development processes, we should focus on consolidating programming foundations and developing algorithmic thinking.
The past year, 2017, was very important to me. I felt that I worked hard and put in effort, but the results were not ideal. The main reason is that this kind of effort and dedication only lasted for a short period of time. As the saying goes, without quantitative change, there can be no qualitative change. Some things require patience and time to accumulate gradually in order to see results. As the old saying goes, "Hard work pays off." The more effort you put in, the greater the reward. Therefore, in 2018, I must strive continuously.
