A Reflection on Work and Life

When work and life tend to become routine, things that were once insisted upon will gradually be abandoned, such as a book that was planned to be read or an article that was planned to be written. These things should have become a part of one's life or work, but often cannot be completed within the expected time. The consequence of this routine is that although it feels rushed, nothing can be accomplished.

At first, I always told myself what I would do next week, or what new technology I would try next month. I was constantly planning, but the current tasks were not properly completed. Over time, this month's tasks were postponed to the next month and ultimately never completed. So I had to give up on some things I wanted to do. For example, tomorrow is Wednesday, according to the plan, I should have finished writing the article to be published tonight, but before 12 o'clock, I still haven't started. I didn't plan to write it, actually I felt like I couldn't write it, but after thinking about it, I decided to write a little bit, whatever I can write.

Gradually, I realized that this routine in work or life cannot be attributed to procrastination. If something can be postponed, it means it's not important. If it's important, anyone can complete it on time, just like homework when we were young. With the supervision of the teacher, we basically finished it. It can be seen that procrastination is just an excuse for not wanting to do something. As the saying goes, habit becomes routine, and after doing it many times, it doesn't feel strange anymore.

Whether in work or life, everyone will experience various comfort zones. In the comfort zone, there is no pressure in work and life. We go to work and leave work on time, eat, sleep, as if work and life should be like this. In the comfort zone, other plans become less important, and there is not much difference between doing and not doing. As a result, many things that should have been done are abandoned.

Everyone has different choices. You need to choose to leave the comfort zone at the right time. Outside the comfort zone, there may be difficulties that you have never encountered before, there may be moments when you feel lost, and it may require you to give up previous achievements and start over. But when you experience these things outside the comfort zone, you will gain greater rewards and constantly motivate yourself to become a better version of yourself!
